These views can be useful for various tasks, especially if you’re planning to print the document. You can also zoom in and out to make your document easier to read. For example, the Font group on the Home tab contains commands for formatting text in your document.

The number to the right of the slider bar reflects the zoom percentage. The Tell me bar allows you to search for commands, which is especially helpful if you don’t remember where to find a specific command. The procedures in this tutorial will work for all recent versions of Microsoft Word, including Word 2019, Word 2016, and Office 365. There may be some slight differences, but for the most part these versions are similar. However, if you’re using an earlier version, you may want to refer to one of our other Word tutorials instead.
